Penguin Mentorship

During my 6 month mentorship with Penguin, I learnt about the ins and outs of commercial publishing. I was given an old brief, that allowed me to gain insight into the procedures designers follow in the publishing industry. The brief required me to create between 5-10 cover designs for Blank Canvas that catered to different parts of the publishing market, both the commercial and literary aspect.

Using both type and image as vessels to convey the contents of the book, one of the biggest themes in the book was about identity and the concealment of it, and so I opted for images that have a strange undertone to create mystery surrounding the main character.
