After this week's workshops with Graham on AR and the power of different programmes, I decided to revisit this project and reflect on it. Questioning what other technologies I could integrate into the outcome. After further researching AR and how it can be applied at exhibitions/events I decided my 5.1 project from the start of last year would be my best choice for integrating augmented reality to my prior work. AR allows us to constantly change and refine work that would otherwise be permanent and leaves no physical mark on the space it possess'.
My final outcome suggested type and image to be painted along the staircase onto the walls, changing the image and text depending on what floor of the building the staircase led to/was on. If I was to add an aspect of AR I would potentially allow for the text to move and or change colour as approached by the user, with the imagery changing colour of the threshold aswell. Making my work almost follow you up the staircase and lead you to the floor you desire. Interacting with the user and bringing the dull and isolated stairwell to life. This means my work could be combined and intertwined with others as it requires no physical painting onto the walls, allowing a blank canvas for other creatives who may also want to implement AR to the stairwell. Giving us a space to work together and interchange between our designs.
This work could be created by any technology then uploaded to Adobe Aero which would allow for it to be applied digitally to the wall and accessed by users via either a link or QR code. While still only in the beta stages it allows for great visualisation as to what this idea may look like in practice without the animated effects.
