It Has become more and more apparent as technology advances that Integrating innovative tools such as Artificial intelligence or augmented reality is something that is more and more important. And for me especially, it's becoming more and more apparent that in order to adapt, incorporating these rising advances into my workflow is important. Like a lot of designers waking up to new innovations, I have begun to reflect on how my current and past projects could have benefitted by new technologies and innovations.
The Aire Guide was a project I completed in response to module 4.4. This section of the module required a rebrand of an existing service/brand in an area I was allocated. This task required not only a rebrand, but also a vision/narrative behind it as if it was a real company. I responded to this brief organically, using my own original thoughts and ideas to come up with, design and envision my take on a rebrand. However a big sticking point for me in that brief was the limited ideas I could have come up with, as well as different methods/outcomes to showcase a more fleshed out idea and explore more mediums.
Thinking about new innovations in AI and AR, I could have used generative AI software such as ChatGPT to contribute to the creative idea generating process, giving me more potential paths than I could have done on my own. Additionally, while still keeping true to my own original work, using AI as a spring to better suggest ideas and inform my work would have resulted in more efficiency in workflow.
Another way I could have explored new innovations was through Augmented reality. This would have helped more as another medium of showcasing my ideas in 3D. One part of my outcomes for the brief was an app meant to serve as a hub for the business/company. Augmented reality could have been incorporated somehow into the app.
One aspect of my outcomes I really wish I had given thought to was branch out and explore new outlets. These rising technologies are new and unfamiliar in context to how I operate, but as they become more mainstream and relevant in the creative industry, I slowly understand it's importance and value in fitting it in my workflow to be more efficient and productive, as well as experimentative.
