Week 3 Reflection – 100 Book Covers Using Creative Coding
For Week 3, we were asked to create a collection of 100 book covers, all following the same structure and appearance, with the challenge being that no two should be identical. The aim of this task was to explore how creative coding can simplify the design process and enable mass variation within a consistent visual system.
Personally, I had never used any kind of coding software before, so I was both eager and nervous to give it a go. With the help of a tutorial, support from my peers, and guidance from tutors, I managed to generate 100 unique book covers—all slightly different from each other.
One challenge I encountered was figuring out how to incorporate text into the covers. I wasn't able to solve this in time, so that’s definitely something I want to focus on in the future. Even without text, I’m really happy with how the covers turned out. I think, for my first time coding, I managed to produce an aesthetically pleasing series of images where the colours work well together and the structure remains consistent throughout.
