Adobe Aero and Dyslexia awareness
On Tuesday, we were introduced to new software called Adobe Aero, which combines 3D elements with the real environment to create an augmented reality (AR) experience. We were also given a brief to create an AR piece representing how people with dyslexia experience the world. I wrote "Read Me," inspired by the cakes from Alice in Wonderland. The text bounced up and down, with several letters fading in and out, simulating what it’s like to read with dyslexia.
An AR Intervention
To address this brief, I started by considering the locations I interact with daily. After reflecting on a few places, I chose my back alley, where I consistently observe rats scattering when they see or hear me. This experience inspired me to create an augmented reality (AR) experience in which virtual rats flee as you approach them. I combined what I had learned in the workshop with additional research to import models into Adobe Aero and develop this experience.
