Recently as part of my own projects, I have been using emerging and advancing Ai tools to create social media content that performs well. At this stage, the biggest thing to growing a social media account is consistency. Instead of making these short reels in 3D (which I would like to learn one day) and it taking days upon days, I have been using different AI tools in combination to achieve a similar effect.
Generating the image
When it comes to image generation, Midjourney is at the top of the game right now. Although this program is not free, it is the most advanced and put together program out there for Ai image generation to date. Just take a look at some images that I made when experimenting with prompts.
Now in my opinion, to generate quality images that resemble real world photography, using generative Ai is a still like anything else. It took me a few months to really get to grips with how prompting works and how the different tools inside of midjourney can be used.
In one of my Instagram reels, I produced this image of a Mercedes Benz 190E (top left) and as you can see, each image below is a prompt that I did before getting to this image. Sometimes it can take me a few hours to create a set of images that I am proud of. Once I create the image, I then bring it into another software to upscale it, and after that I use Kling Ai to make an image into a video. This could be super useful in the future to storyboard ideas, films, graphics, as it is quick to use and can create some impressive results.
Image to Video
Once inside of Kling it is a similar process to Midjourney prompting wise, however you are able to control the camera settings a lot more. For this example, I just simply used a prompt (as can be seen on left of the image) and after a few tries, I managed to get a brilliant outcome. Repeating the process allowed me to get multiple similar shots, and in turn I created a reel for instagram that managed to accrue over 485,000 views, which can be seen below.
Once edited I then bring the video into Topaz Ai to upscale it to a higher resolution, and then it's ready!
Overview
I started using generative Ai recently as it intrigued me how fast it was improving. I think using generative image and video models is less about actual graphic design and more about creative direction, but I also feel as if every industry could benefit from using this once it gets to an even better point. Imagine, companies could use generative Ai to see rough sketches of a product in a more finished manner, concepts will become much much realer, directors could storyboard a draft using Ai and much much more. I think Ai is advancing at a scary pace, but as designers I think it is something we should be aware of, and it shouldn't be shut out. I know clothing designers that use different Ai techniques combined with traditional graphic design processes that are making 3-5k a month freelance at our age, using Ai to increase their standard of imagery and also their workflow.
