After exploring AI and the helpful tools that it can provide to us, it came to my attention that the use of AI could make my life a lot easier for one of my projects. This project was the redesign for the company Beryl Bikes, which undertook the redesign of their app amongst other things. I learnt about Matt Webb and his use of AI tools which allowed him to create an app named Galactic Compass. This app was completely created with an AI tool called ChatGPT as Matt had no idea how to use Swift, which is the language used to code IOS apps. Matt was able to ask the AI to give him a step-by-step process of how to create the code for his app on a program called Xcode Cloud, and Matt just had to implement these instructions into the program. My redesign project would’ve been easier if I had used AI tools to help me create this app, as I would’ve been able to use Matt’s same approach and would not have to spend time learning programs on my own. Using Matts's approach also will teach me the skills from these programs as the AI is somewhat of a teacher, but won’t teach me a broad number of skills. For my redesign for the Beryl Bike app, I also did not know how to use Swift or similar programs, so I settled on just making a template for a redesign on a program called Figma. Learning about Matt Webb’s use of AI in making an app would’ve caused my outcome to be different, as I would’ve used this same approach to actually make my app into reality and this has shown me how effective AI can be. I will take the use of AI into consideration a lot more when it comes to my projects as it can lead me to learn new skills on plenty of different software and programs, while also making my life easier when creating projects on unfamiliar programs.
