  • Material out there related to graphic design. Quite old fashioned and limited. 
  • Limited- gender, what graphic design is, ethnicity. 
  • Look at how things are represented.
  • Under represented - In cultural context.- Problems and solutions. 
  • Identify issues within the design world.
  • Research, Analyse, Discuss and present. 
  • Research in depth, who it is, why, more information about the person. 
  • In presentation, researched about a campaign including a model with 

down syndrome. Not enough information found something new. Found model Ellie

Goldstein (has downsyndrome) 


  • Discovered a website (Zebedee) for models hiring - Diversity. 
  • Explore (can hit a wall) and find new things. 



  • Present a reasoned argument
  • Communicate clearly (with references and sources)
  • Identify a studio or individual (under represented)
  • Write an Illustrated ‘wikipedia style’ entry.

  • Looking at idealogy- What is idealogy?
  • Idealogy- Its moving/ progressing
  • Idealogy- Can be advertised like having a woman open a bottle of ketchup.

‘A system of ideas and ideals’ forms the basis of economic or political theory and policy.

  • An image, film or animation can tell us how to feel or what to think
  • Reflects and reinforces certain social, political or cultural beliefs.
  • Everything you create can either support or challenge the ideas and values of society


Who I will look at

- I looked at the book Femme Type and really found an interest in a Studio made up of graphic designers called ‘My name is Wendy’. They are a paris based studio that create high-impact, bold graphic solutions utilising type as one of the main visual elements.
