Iris Van Herpen

Creator Iris Van herpen - from a production of many editorial looks named architectonics, in which the artist takes inspiration from

Paris Couture Fashion week - 2023, it was inspired by aquatic architecture - creating a look of a futuristic style.

What drew me to this was the level of precision and detail within his work especially the hands on method of photography, such as places models underwater to give a more futuristic and intriguing look.

How was it made -

Inspired by the ideas of aquatic urbanism and combining the riveting views of nature alongside todays fashion culture - he took inspiration from architect  Jacques Rougerie

Each look was individually modelled digitally before draping together his designs. "he cutting-edge ’Biophilic’ technique is developed from lasercutting architectural lineworks that are bonded together to serve as molds, in which a marble-textured silicone is injected with syringes into the fine lasercut outlines. At the same time abalone-shell flakes are inlaid by hand into gradients before the silicone is settling. After settling, a final transparent layer of silicone is injected to enhance the iridescent shell shards gracefully."

What were the entry points -

introducing the use of hands on method to bring together more evolved looks such as experimenting with the use of photography, how to create organic looking models of nature inspired sculptures perhaps using items that are more accessible - experimenting with origami alongside sculpture making
