WorkFlow
Part 1 - Reflect
Where do I find flow and momentum? When working I find that I have the most momentum once I have got a final idea of where I want to take the brief/project and a starting point. Once I have began designing like to keep going back and refining my work until I'm happy with it.
Where do I switch from doing tasks to making decisions? I like to start off with tasks in the creative process before I have my idea as it helps me to think of more ideas and develop a good theme for my project. Once I have experimented with ideas, materials and colours I can then begin on thinking about what theme would work best with the brief I have been given.
Where does my work get messy and confusing? It usually gets messy when I don’t understand the brief or if it's something I'm not particularly interested in as I struggle to engage when I'm not interested. I also struggle with actually starting the project when I have a theme, I can gather loads of ideas its just knowing where to start. I also struggle with reading and writing especially on a screen as I find it harder to read from. And the final thing I think gets confusing during the creative process is the research side of it, such as where to look for things.
Where does your energy dip? I have noticed that when it comes to research, reading and writing my energy dips as I'm not a fan of the theory side of things therefore I give up very easily. I also notice an energy dip if I’m not interested in the project I'm working on, if I don't find it interesting or enjoyable I seem to struggle to sit and work on it for long periods of time and it usually isn't my best work.
Part 2 - Research Tools
Tool, techniques or strategies I could use – As I struggle with reading off screens I could look at printing off articles to read (easier of paper) then highlighting imported/relative parts, another idea is using ai such as chat gpt to summarise articles so I can get a base understanding of them.
How could these tools be integrated into your work? I’ve looked at notion to help with notes as well as making to do lists so that I can keep myself on track with work and where I’m supposed to be at, it also has an ai setting to help with notes and summarising things. And for the next part I also looked at using Chat gpt to summarise the article for the questions.

Part 3 - Article Questions

What does AI mean for thinking, making, authorship and craft? I think that there is a concern that AI may make the creative output more similar and less distinctive which means we will still need graphic designers to think and make things however AI is developing quick so eventually it will get better at making the designs more distinctive. Some designers feel excited and empowered by AI, while others are worried about the loss of control they’re going to have over the designing process.
What do you think designers should keep hold of and what could/should be automated? I think that we should keep the thought process where the ideas come from then look at automating the colour palettes and layouts, so it’s helping a little bit, but the main idea and design is still creative and made be a designer.
Where do you see the role of a designer strengthening or shifting? I see it strengthening in the generating ideas side of the design process as AI is not yet able to have its own ideas therefore it needs someone to do that for it however the design role will shift when it comes actually designing things as AI will do it quicker however I think there needs to have a designer to go over and looked at the work created as it won’t have any emotion or feeling in it. Overall I think that designers could maybe work with AI however it doesn’t have the full capabilities a designer would have.
