This week, the focus was on improving our personal workflows through the use of different tools and technologies. I was shocked at how many options my research revealed.
As someone who is easily overwhelmed by the number of steps in a project it was relieving to know there are so many resources to enhance not only the efficiency but also the organisation of my projects which as a result makes them less stressful and overwhelming to manage. I often take on projects with no structure and order. As a result of this I can lose track of useful resources and key criteria. This severely impacts the outcome of my projects. The seminar highlighted to me just how many options there are to aid with this. After trying and testing several options I decided that Notion was working the best for me. Its simple layout made it very easy to make sense of so it didn't add to the feeling of being overwhelmed. I didn't want to use complex software as the goal was to improve efficiency and I didn't want to add even more time onto projects trying to learn the ins and outs of a new software. I just needed something simple and effective and for me Notion was exactly that. After watching a few very basic set-up tutorials I have learnt how to get the best out of the tool for me personally. It allows me to keep everything in one place without losing track of key information and resources. It makes progress throughout projects a much smoother and more efficient process. I have set my Notion up so that all my notes are simply organised, tasks are listed and useful links are all together.
I am now going to continue to use this throughout this module and all my future projects. Now that it is set up personally to what I need I will have more time to focus on the creative process rather than the struggle of trying to sort out my disorganisation before I can ever fully start a piece of work.
