Touch designer 3d room scan

3d room scan experiment

To continue my development in touch designer I used more features which I have learned throughout my time with the software.

Using an app called scaniverse I took a 3d scan of the room and exported it as a Json model, with this I then converted the json model into point clouds using several different components, especially using the instancing using the xyz values from the data given to create an instance of point clouds, this was then translated into a 3d environment using a render top with the individual points being rendered as circles. Through this I had a basic point cloud render of the room available in a 3d environment, however still no use for this.

The idea of the project was to visualise how I feel when listening to music within my own comfortable space, the connection it has within my life and the way it can fill a room with the several highs and lows, almost like a feeling of pure bliss.

To add this movement and energy I used a string of audio reactivity tops using different combinations of math and delay chop data for a song which had a large range of peaks and lows (this is as the difference in spikes would create larger and smaller values) Using these chops I could change the size of each point through the distance in which they are rendered relative to the 3d camera (point distance) With this I had created the pulsing feeling of the music relative to the information given from the audio, however to add more movement I also used these same chop values on the camera changing the rotation and distance of the camera to create a pulsating movement.

To further the depth of the reaction I used a glow component which would change the relative brightness of each point based on another audio chop sequence based on low end of the audio rather than peaks which created a reaction almost similar to when listening to music with a subwuffer which would usually shake the room surrounding it (if very powerful). When combined these methods created the design above which can be rendered in real time with values also being changed.

To refine the design I then took it into after effects to do text animation with a crt effect which was simple to create. (grids 100x100, lense distort, noise) which was added over standard text.

I am still continuing to develop my touch designer skills.
