Split (2016) - Opening Title Sequence
Typographic Animation
Split is a 2016 American film that follows three girls who are kidnapped by a man who suffers from dissociative identity disorder (DID). The girls must explore each of his 23 personalities and, in order to escape captivity, avoid a frightful 24th emerging. I encountered this title sequence during this week's movie night with my partner and the typographic animations caught my attention after having studied typography for module 5.1.
Who made it?
The production company and director contracted a production studio called Filmograph to create the opening sequence concept.

How did they make it?
The linked website is an online publication that delves into the design details of film and television title sequences. They have published an article about Split and the success of their simple yet effective typographic transitions that foreshadow the main character's 24 distinct personalities.

The executive producer has confirmed that they used the Adobe suite of Illustrator, Photoshop, and After Effects to create the sequence as it is purely typographic with cuts with transitions and minor animation between each.
What are the entry points?
If I wanted to start making work like this, I'd begin with the Adobe suite (probably After Effects initially) and start playing around with animating type.
War Pigs - Red Dead Redemption 2
Fan Made Trailer (TikTok)
@jonass_o Can’t wait for Red dead 3 #reddeadredemption2 #reddeadredemption #arthurmorgan #rdr2 #rdr2 #game #edit

I found this edit whilst scrolling on my 'For You' page on TikTok last week and saved it to my favourites folder. It features clips from my favourite game, Red Dead Redemption 2 which is a story-based action adventure videogame that features an open world for players to explore whilst navigating the main story and its relevant missions.
Who made it?
The edit was made by TikTok user jonass_o who has a combined 1.5M likes across his other edits.
How did they make it?
Whilst I could not find any information regarding the software used to create the edit, I believe that it was most likely constructed in Adobe After Effects. The creator, jonass_o, states in the caption of the YouTube version of the edit that the clips are not his own - he has sourced each individual clip from TikTok and cut them together to a backing track of War Pigs by Black Sabbath.
What are the entry points?
To make my own TikTok edit of the game, I could use my own clips that I've stored for personal entertainment and cut them together using After Effects as I believe that jonass_o has used. I'd have to choose a relevant song that I felt represented the action nature of the game then cut and arrange each clip to the music so that the rhythm and beats were synchronised with the footage. I would also experiment with layering the images in time with the music as well.
What did you find along the way?
Whilst researching about this particular TikTok video and the creator behind it, I found that he also has a YouTube channel where he uploads his edits in a more professional manner for "portfolio" purposes as specified in his video description. There are several more edits and regular commentary-style videos on his channel about different videogames.
Everton FC - Goal Announcement Post
Social Media Post (Instagram)
After watching my football team win, I scrolled through their Instagram page to view the highlights and post-match graphics. I'm really interested in football & sporting graphic design in particular as it links two of my hobbies. I saw this goal announcement post and really loved the design of it with the clean graphics and typography at the bottom.
Who made it?
From my research, I believe that this graphic in particular was designed by the club's senior designer Darren Rimmer. Here is his LinkedIn page:

How did they make it?
Whilst I cannot, again, find any information on the exact software used to create this matchday goal announcement post, I believe it to be Adobe suite as is the standard for many professional graphic designers and ones that I have followed in this industry.
