Currently technology plays a massive role for me both in creative thinking and producing. Mostly due to a lack of a history with hands-on activities such as Illustration, painting , modeling ,physical product making etc. So everyday I rely on what I know best creatively , technology. I think existing tools are an extremely important aspect of creativity , especially now in both physical and digital technologies. I believe they have reached their peak, in terms of innovation nowadays there are only shortcuts , new applications to do the same thing differently or automation through AI , rather than massive emerging tools. With almost all major tools being owned by well known brands or are well known in general , it's hard to say i use anything unique when it comes to digital production and all physical methods have been tried and tested since humans were alive so there's nothing new there either.
The only limitations I have faced so far is a confusion in certain differences between applications which seem nonsensical to me as they could be merged ( indesign , photoshop , illustrator ) and limited knowledge in the things I do use. Whenever I come to any challenge technologically I instantly try to find a way to fix it myself as that builds it my memory for myself rather than seek other help , i dont like using the defaults in most technology apps as they often hide most tools or features that make everything easier , the more I can experiment and break things the quicker I understand my own current limitations and the products limits.
Specific tools I have been using as of recently have been after effects and indesign, the latter being very easy to grasp and more of a personal talent needed rather than technological , I have decided to further learn after effects. Through the use of tutorials within uni I have learned some very interesting basics, that open a massive gate of creative freedom , becoming very easy things I can now replicate in just a few minutes and start creating something. I don't have much expertise when it comes to motion design , animation or filming but I do have a passion to explore each of these aspects and learn as much as I can. Through the use of motion software it has really opened up my mind past the limitations of a 2 dimensional canvas, although everything eventually comes back down to that flat dimension with few exceptions in the mainstream , where previous softwares such as photoshop stopped me. I would like to start using 3d creation softwares and motion graphics more into my work before I start developing static imagery, in my eyes everything looks better when there is motion as it invokes an instant question of how was that created and how can it be replicated , which often isn't asked by non creative eyes when it comes to things such as posters. 3 dimensional work also makes things easier in my mind to bring to life as that's how the real world is.
My plans for the future of my creative exploration is to fully develop skills in motion graphics and 3d modeling right now. I want to move with the future of technology and innovation and solidify a spot rather than stick to the old ways. I prefer to move forward with everything and get straight to the new as the old already has masters.
