After getting a task or a brief, the first thing I like to do is get all my initial ideas down and any notes I think are key to remember: the emotions I want to create, the audience I want to reach and anything that the brief is asking me to create. One of my favourite places to get my inspiration from is Behance and Pinterest they allow me to create mood boards. After I've made notes, I like to turn them into sketches to help me visualise; this helps me progress any ideas I have. Especially when working in a team, I like to draw to help me explain my ideas, as I feel I am a person who learns and develops when I can physically see them form.
I am a firm believer that when you are stuck for ideas or lacking creativity, one of the best things to do is go back to basics, whether this is working with primary colours or simple shapes. Sometimes, I feel I lack motivation when I do not feel my ideas are strong or they need developing, so I know the best way to get my creative side working is to just play around and experiment with the materials around me. The majority of the time, I end up with something I never would have thought to do, and it ends up being my favourite. Even if I end up hating what I create, it helps my brain get into action.
I do sometimes forget to do this, and even when I do, I end up losing my process, so I need to remember to keep notes and save the things I don't end up using as my final idea. To do this, I will be using Figma as it is one of my favourites, it will help me create a huge board of my ideas and keep it in one place. It will almost mimic my brain's thoughts and ideas.
