Hand Drawn Animation

In this workshop, we learnt the basics of using Wacom drawing tablets to create stop-motion animations using Adobe Photoshop timeline. As I've never done illustrative animation or used a drawing pad before, I was a little apprehensive about how it would go.

We started off by experimenting with using different brush shapes, textures and blurs. We then went on to the actual animation, in my case a firework scene. I really enjoyed this as it wasn't about having perfect drawings or making it run completely smoothly, as it was just the first attempt. I also found that my hand-eye coordination improved quickly as I started to use the tablets. It could get a little bit repetitive re-drawing the same picture over and over but it was also therapeutic at the same time.

As I enjoyed the process so much, I'm interested in experimenting more with the skill, especially when adding in more elements and sounds, to see what I can create.
