Four by Six
Project Overview
The brief I chose for this project is 'Type activation', taking a poster from my previous module and investigating how motion would impact the typeface's overall character, as well as the themes I was initially aiming to portray. Do do so, I chose the outcome of 'Visualization', transforming the poster into an animated infographic to physically represent it's character and energy.

I am proposing to animate certain key aspects of this poster, including the title, in attempts to replicate the movement of jazz music and enable the target market of my poster (Jazz enthusiasts and Speakeasy goers) to take interest as well as visualize the 'concert' that is being marketed.

Technical Requirements
Skills:
My skillset in terms of animation as a whole is definitely something I need to develop further, even though when using Jitter via Figma, the tools are fairly basic and easy to understand. If I were to fully execute a final product for this brief however, I would use other software such as After Effects, which I am more familiar with, however haven't explored it to it's full potential when it comes to animating type specifically.
Tools, software and technology required:
The original poster used within this project was created on Adobe InDesign, and for this project outcome, I used a Figma plug-in called 'Jitter'. Despite allowing me to animate aspects like opacity, rotation and positions, I wasn't able to distort the lettering to capacity I would like.
In order to do so, I would likely have to use other software's such as After effects to have access to more tools that would help me gain more control over the animation process. As well as this, it would allow me to create the infographic as a whole, rather than in separate parts, which I was only able to do using Jitter, as there is only basic controls, settings and tools to use.
Research:
In aims to truly reflect the themes of the poster using animation, I would want to extensively research the connection between music and type, drawing inspiration from media such as music videos, animated infographics, film etc. to visualize how the two interact and how I could reflect this within my poster.
Process Documentation

When creating iterations for this project on Jitter, I began to use animation tools including: opacity, rotation and movement as well as fade-in's. Initially, I was pleased with how the animations interacted with the Pangaia font specifically, however felt that the final project needed more movement across the the page as a whole, in aims to reflect more personality.
