Four by six

Chosen brief:

"Take your type specimen or poster from the last module. move it to screen and investigate how the type's characters changes or expands in a digital environment. What does screen technology (motion, variable axes, interaction, responsiveness) reveal about the typeface that paper couldn't."

The front cover from my type specimen - using it as a poster through

This is the front cover of my type specimen from 5.1 however for this I am going to use it as a poster. I am going to turn this into a motion graphic for a cat walk in one of the fashion weeks as that then links into my type specimen booklet theme. Even if they don't the same words or lay out t what I have used I could still see it animated for branding/advertisements for the fashion weeks. Changing it from a still image to an animation would really interest me as I never would have thought about doing it and I think it would work well for the theme as fashion is always evolving so why not evolve the branding along side it.

Chosen Outcome:

"Animation - A pre-rendered, time-based piece that uses motion to communicate. This could be vector animation, cell animation, generative animation, projection-mapped content, or motion graphics. the sequence demonstrates considered use of timing, transition and visual rhythm."

Project overview

I would to animate this poster to show the personality of the typeface - Right sans

Firstly, I would like to take my poster from Indesign and move it to after affects or premier pro to use some of the skills I have learned in the workshops with Jon and make the text move in and out of the page. I would like to look into the time timing and transition when dealing with moving text. I could also look at using some of the websites from the workflow week of this module. I was thinking of looking at the Munken website and having the text move across the page, I could also then look at adding in an image from the background.

Visual Evidence

To start it all off though I would draw sketches and storyboards to see how the words would move across the page and to think more about the placement, then taking it onto After Affects, Premier Pro or Munken (or something similar if I find anymore websites that can help me) to create a demonstration so people can see the vision before perfecting it.

Technical Requirements

I would need to gain more knowledge and understanding about the tools and software I am looking to use as motion graphics and animation isn't one of my strengths. I can watch Youtube videos and the videos from Jons season to help me gain a better understanding of the softwares.

Process Documentation:

Throughout my process I would photograph and screenshot any parts of research, leaning, trial and error to show how I came to my final idea so that when it comes to proposing my idea they can have a clear understanding of my processes and ways of working. It also shows how I came to my final idea rather than just showing them what I want to dot shows the development of my idea and thought process.
