After my introduction to the module in week 1 I was intrigued to learn more about technologies and how they could aid my development as a graphic designer. The first seminar was really eye opening as to how influential technologies can be in aiding and improving a project.
I learnt about AI and ChatGPT which would've been a helpful tool when completing my 4.4 module in which I was tasked with creating a mobile app that would benefit my chosen company. I decided to create a mobile booking service for a small tattoo company. However, due to there being so many details required to have the app functioning properly I lost out on the creative side of the design process. The inclusion of ChatGPT within the process would have increased both efficiency and accuracy within the project. Whilst it couldn't literally produce the app for me, if given the instructions, it could've given me the steps required to do it myself. This would've saved me a lot of time as the wireframe would've been almost completely written for me. Not only this but the use of artificial intelligence would've also significantly minimised the opportunity for mistakes within the wireframe. This again would've improved the efficiency of the project as it means less time would be required proofing and correcting my work at the end. This will benefit the final outcome as well. One of the key bits of feedback I received from the project was that my focus on getting all the details of the app to function correctly prohibited me from achieving the best aesthetics for my app. However, with the introduction of AI I could have allowed myself the opportunity to focus the extra time it granted on the visuals and ensuring the app had links to my chosen brand. Therefore, improving the overall outcome and achieving both outcomes.
The discovery of this has motivated metro change the way I approach future projects. I am going to start them with ChatGPT/AI resources so that it can act as a base for me to develop and build on. By being provided with the base I'll have the opportunity to focus on refining my work, adding more detail and layers. Because of this I will be able to focus time on producing higher grade works and learning new skills which could also be applied to various other projects therefore, having a positive knock on effect on my graphic design level as a whole. As well as granting me the time to learn new skills ChatGPT and/or AI could be the resource that teaches me these new skills or even provides me with solutions to problems within graphic design.
