Munken Creator

Munken Creator
Use the Munken Sans to experiment and create powerful messages, get creative and have fun.

All these screenshots are from my videos using the Munken creator, I had a lot of fun using this. Playing with the font size, letter spacing, height, columns etc all while it is constantly moving. It creates unique layouts without necessarily planning it most of the time. This software might be useful to those who want to animate their posters, making them move and come to life in away. Or even to make advertisements more intriguing for the audience.

This software didn't draw my attention as much as the others only because you weren't allowed to import your own images. Although the images they offered you were good, i would've liked to use some of my own designs from other software's and combine these together. Other than that it was fun testing out the fonts and looking at the images you could use. This would be good to make a quick poster and good for pushing you to use backgrounds/images you never would've thought to use.

Messing around, figuring out how to use the software.

These images of overlapping text could be good for a background for a poster or festival, perhaps changing the words to suit that certain festival. For example, you could put the line up of artists overlapping and make these words move around so its animated. Using https://colab.munken.com/munkencreator, I tried to show a rough idea of what I mean. Maybe if there was more colour involved and they went behind/ in front of each other, it would've been more cooler. I would really like to get into this style more, especially something for posters of events or publications. I feel like there's a large range of stuff you can design for events like festivals, or even small bands.

Experiment

Using the image of type I created as a background, my initial thought was just to cut out parts of plain white paper to photocopy not top. However, when I was about to get the paper, I saw some Vogue magazines on the side. Which I then realised it would make a lot more of an impact if I used parts of the magazine instead. So, I cut some pieces out and photocopied them onto my background I printed off. I accidentally printed 3 copies off as I wasn't used to photocopying without some sort of help. Now I will know for next time!

I think the final outcome turned out great and a lot better than I expected! This is just one experiment, but it would be so cool to do more styles of these, using different backgrounds I made. I would definitely want to photocopy more in the future, overlapping unexpected materials and just seeing what the outcome is. This could link well with Riso printing, as I really want to experiment more with this as well mono printing.
