RISO PRINT SCISSOR EXPERIMENT

Emerging technologies reflection

RISO PRINT SCISSOR EXPERIMENT

In terms of utilising “new technologies” I think my 4.2 project would be the most effective. With my designated style being Futurism comes with connotes of speed, destruction and dynamism. This can be quite hard to translate and is one of the challenges of conveying this message across using traditional media. It would also coincide with the stress upon technology that came with Futurism making it the perfect project to cater towards new technologies.

With my project I made a Riso print of scissors, a constant theme throughout, where these scissors were only present in restricted outcomes such as prints or PDF’s. Therefore, didn’t feel as interactive and certainly not as dynamic as required. Usage of AR would have been able to make these come to life showcasing the Futuristic aspects of the scissors such as the sharp edges or streamline blade. Alongside this I think it would’ve enhanced the Riso effect of the scissors emphasising the outlandish colour and half tone.

I also could have taken this outcome or other experiments further with the use of new technologies. At earlier points of the project, I neglected certain ideas that could have been more effective and potentially a front runner given more technologies. Like scissors cutting Italian connotations or my 3 layers experiment both could have been brought into better light given the technology. Perhaps I would’ve expanded on the 3 layers making more individuals layers resulting in a generative piece showcasing hundreds of different outcomes and possibilities.

In conclusion I think the inclusion of new technologies would be able to enhance my pre-existing project, levelling it up. However given this opportunity to start the project from what I now know, I think I would’ve delved into different lanes altogether.
