The idea started out very basic with just simple rigged models in cinema 4D, creating a basic collision body animation adjusting the scene settings, and altering gravity values i was able to emulate the falling of a ball into another object with physics applied.
with this in mind and the understanding of how I can manipulate gravity and physics within Cinema 4D I started modelling some pipes for the objects to fall onto and roll away.
after modelling them and testing the physics of the two objects until i was satisfied with the outcome i started looking at textures using an external plugin called Cargo from Kitbash3D.
above is a still render of the texture applied to a circle with some downlighting and a backdrop, I'm going to use the cloner tool to create copies of these and shrink the size but change the cloner to a line so we get a vertical stretch of objects, next was to adjust the gravity of the scene so our pipes don't succumb to 3-dimensional gravity. and adjust the collision body so it reacts with another object on collision finally adjust the gravity of the object in suspense and press play to test the physics
after this, I decided to add some more interesting shapes which just ended up looking like a UFO so continued with that idea using the same methods before building the UFO structure using torus shapes and discs below is a short video for reference.
building the scene and lighting was crucial so i defined a good camera angle and setup some lighting around the scene to add some depth, the final outcome looks a little something like this.
"Design isn't crafting a beautiful, textured button with breathtaking animation. It's figuring out if there's a way to get rid of the button altogether". - Edward Tufte
