The focal point of these workshops with Jon was getting to grips with cinema 4D - a tool that I think will become a very versatile tool in the future. It offers a wide range of options for use including making 3D meshes and models, 3D animation and a variety of other skills, making it a versatile and open to experiment software.
Cinema 4D is also a crucial piece of software to at least be familiar with due to its high prevalence in the creative industry. Many professionals utilise this software and often encourage new designers to understand how it works. I think learning about it now and using it more in the future will be an asset, allowing for easy collaboration with studios, individuals and team projects.
My impression of learning about cinema 4D being someone already familiar with Blender - another 3D software - was that it has its strengths and weaknesses for my personal use. For instance, While Cinema 4d is more user friendly and easier to beginners, it also doesn't offer as crisp a render in relatively little time as blender that someone like me who has used blender for years would appreciate. One thing I can definitely see being a great use for Cinema 4D is branding, using 3D models in order to create a promotional motion graphic for a client's product.
Overall, it was a very enriching experience and really hammered home this software that I can learn fairly easily is a widely used one in the creative industry. I will definitely incorporate it into my practice.
