Federico Cavalieri’s website acts as a hub for his work, with its purpose to take you somewhere else. His email, portfolio or Instagram linked as outlets, they are joined with a brief but substantial description of his work and focuses. What I found particularly engaging about Federico’s website was the missing/delayed appearance of some words in his description. With certain words needed for the punctuality of his description missing, it required the viewer wait until the words appeared fully. This juxtaposes the modern way of advertising which stresses getting out information as soon as possible. Federico’s approach is refreshing and works with his target audience of designers. I feel like this would not be the case with a mainstream demographic, however.
DAPP BOI is a website promoting an Ethereum based currency. The website relatively simplistic and straightforward replicating Matthew Vernon’s (the creators) idea. Explaining that opposed to a price for his time/projects, his crypto based token will be equivalent to an hour of his time designing or adding towards your project. I think this is an interesting concept that almost reminded me of cashing in tokens at a fairground to go on a ride. Although I think it is an interesting concept with a well-designed website demonstrating it. I think for a lot of people who are shy or unaware of crypto currency, this would go against Vernon’s idea of being a “simple premise” and appear intimidating or alien.
Stubio is a clothing collaborative workshop in which they release one off clothing items. Their website doesn’t initially draw you in, with a simplistic and almost “bad design” approach. However, this is done with intent keeping the website as necessary as possible. This keeps the focus on their products without distracting you with certain stylistic choices or design. From an artistic perspective, I find it quite interesting with them purposefully making these choices. Maximising thoughtful reduction, their website has no room for variables. Although you could argue this is a boring look and feel, when knowing the concept and the intention, it becomes apparent this is an intriguing approach, alongside serving the purpose of the website perfectly.
