Workflow is something I never thought about, I'm all about doing something yourself, and learning through that because to me it's the best way and it's fun. If I were to think on it though I could maybe think of: re-naming files, organising files and images, creating volumes of PDFs for the same project - repetitive things that don't lend itself to the creation of the design.
Although I don't doubt that an app or code could definitely optimise these tedious processes, I don't think I would be satisfied, I'd be paranoid they weren't packed away correctly, named how I'd like them to be, would I lose track of things because I'm not putting it away myself? issues like that, in the automation you're left with the what ifs.
Digitising physical notes
For 5.3, one of our tasks was to present our notes in an organised way, so I thought to re-write them all down in Word. This proved to be a long process. I thought to try out some apps which would transcribe my handwriting to digital text.
xScan: Document Scanner App
This is the first I tried, it gave a basic result, the transcribtion had spelling mistakes in it and sort of placed the text in any which order. I can't fault it too much since I write in cursive and my handwriting isn't the best, but it was a bit more of a hassle than it was worth
Notion: Notes, Tasks, AI
This was my second attempt, which proved worse than the last since I had to first give an email to use the app, the transcribtion was innacurate again, and it was proving to just be quicker to write them down manually
Other apps
I tried out two other apps as well named ScanNow and Scan Shot: Document Scanner. However, as soon as I tried to transcribe the text it told me I had to pay, so thats where I deleted them.
Overall, the exerience was just tedious and I thought by the time I had configured it all out I could have just manually written it down myself.
System Utilites
I decided to look into tools that would help me organise and clean my computer, but for ways thats useful for me: Not doing things I can't see, shows me where and what it's doing.
DaisyDisk
This is really simple, I was a little confused at first because basically all my documents are not labelled right, so that's down to me, but once I figured out what everything was, its very easy to use. On this free trial mode I believe the only thing you can do it delete files completely, but that's still behind a paywall, but I understand the idea, I think it would work for me since it gives me all the information and control over what I do.
