5.2 Workflow

reflecting on my own design process :

Part 1:

What parts of your practice make you feel most engaged and creative?

the parts of the process that make me feel the most engaged are the design and production aspects.

When do you ‘actually’ feel like you’re designing?

I only feel like I am designing when I actually get to a point in the process of having a final piece that is starting to come together. Before it gets to this point I feel like I haven’t really done anything, as the in the research stages I find a bit confusing to do research for a project that I don’t know how I’m gonna start.

What pain points do you identify in your own workflow?

my 'pain points' in my process are the research and creative experimentation. I find experimentation in the creative stage a pain point in my process because once I come up with one idea I find it hard to then go back and come up with something that very different.

What tasks or steps feel like obstacles to designing?

having too much to explore makes it harder for me to commit to one idea, if ind it easier to be constrict to a certain program to make the project on or a certain type of process like print or video as the outcome. easy to stick to what I already know rather than going out and learning even more new things so I feel like this module 5.2 has helped .

part 2:

What tools, techniques, or strategies did you find in your research?

Haven’t really found tools that have helped me with the pain in my process and I’m also not really sure what tools could help me with that. The only tools that I found that have helped restarting my experimentation is behance where you can explore at the artist work, I also found that apps like Figma help it help to make it easier for me to do put down at once instead of forgetting about them.

How could these be integrated into your practice?

how do emerging tools (including AI) challenge or change what it means to be a designer, and how might your workflow need to adapt ?

I think emerging tools change what it means to be a designer because they adapt the process that you would typically do if they didn’t exist. To like AI are cutting down the workflow the head of line has to do they’re removing more of the end process Of a piece. This is good and bad things to move quicker, but it also takes away from a lot personalisation. I also think AI is taking away from the creative process as well a lot of tools that are emerging like website builders or builders have templates for people to use that take away any uniqueness just to make everything look uniform and aesthetic
