5.2 Process Document

When starting this brief, I was initially confused as I was unsure with it having no brief, however once I got started, I found it really interesting as it challenged me to learn my skills as well as experimenting with new tools. This module has allowed me to engage with new technologies and has given me more confidence when working with them now. Some parts I found difficult such as the Jon workshops as I've never really worked with after affects and 4D cinema therefore I feel like I would still need to spend more time understanding these skills.

Week 1 - Initiation

Monday (Public Space, Public Voice)

Public space, Public voice
Create a campaign that raises awareness about: neurodiversity in public spaces. Public spaces – streets, parks, transport hubs, shops, community centres – are designed for everyone, but they don’t always work for everyone. Neurodivergent people often face challenges that remain invisible to others: sensory overload from noise and lighting, anxiety in unpredictable

During week 1 we were asked to work in groups (I worked with Millie and Mars) to create a neurodivergent campaign to raise awareness, we looked at googling what helps neurodivergent people out and hat things they struggle with. Then we came to the final idea of the scenery hut where I have explained further within my post which is linked above.

The point of this brief was to look at what tools and websites we used the coming up with ideas and when it came to presenting. Our group immediately used PowerPoint to make a mind map for our ideas then went and drew out our idea on paper. I found that this was a easy and productive way of working and would probably do it the same way next time.

Week 2 - Innovation

Monday (Media Diets)

Media Diet 1
Founded in 2018, Alec Doherty Jewellery grew from Alec’s work as an artist. Each hand-drawn design is crafted from precious metals and finished in Hatton Garden, combining character, humour, and personal charm in jewellery made to be worn, lived in, and loved. Ecstasy RingNice List Logo Who made it
Media Diet 2
RUBY BROWN Ruby Brown is interested in how identity, taste, and audience shape design. Across her practice, the Norwich-based designer examines contrast in form and flair, pairing often organic, colourful forms with stringent, sharp typography. She draws from her interests in nature, music, and festivals, applying her verve for activity
Media Diet 3
British vogue Millie Bobby Brown Is British Vogue’s December 2025 Cover Star BY CHIOMA NNADI 5th November 2025 Chioma Nnadi became the Head of Editorial Content for British Vogue in September 2023 after a long career at American Vogue, where she worked her way up from fashion writer to

In week 2 of this module on the Monday we looked at making media diets which included 3 images/pieces of work that interested me. Doing this helps me identify what work I find interesting and then gives me an idea of where I would think about taking my work in the future. In the links above I looked at a ring, festival line up/music albums and a vogue magazine. these all caught my eye as they are something I am passionate about; I want to look into either music or magazines.

Tuesday (Figma)

Figma and Jitter
For this we looked at using Figma and the plug in jitter, taking a static image or text and making it move across the page. I had a lot of fun experimenting with this, adding in shapes such as the stars, changing the colours and having the text fade in

Then in the Tuesday session in week 2 we looked at using Figma and instead of just having static images and text w looked at making them move using Jitter. I really enjoyed doing this as it came naturally to me as usually moving text on software such as After Affects it takes me longer to learn and gain an understanding of it to use it whereas Figma was a lot easier and quick for me.

Although we had already used Figma in previous modules it was nice to look at news things on the website and it also gave me the chance to develop my skill set on this website as well.

Week 3 - Implementation

Monday (Workflow)

WorkFlow
Part 1 - Reflect Where do I find flow and momentum? When working I find that I have the most momentum once I have got a final idea of where I want to take the brief/project and a starting point. Once I have began designing like to keep going

And for week 3, I think this was one of the most useful ones to me as it allowed me to to look at what I struggle with and where I can get the most work done, then looked at tools and websites to find things that help me work more productively.

With in this week, we also looked at an article on AI and talked about how AI is developing and thinking about what areas it is taking over in. When looking at this it reassured me that it is not taking over design as it has no way of bringing in emotion to design and it would create basic designs that's not useful to clients.

Week 4 - Automation

Monday (Design Systems)

Experimenting with tools
1st tool: Munken Munken CreatorUse the Munken Sans to experiment and create powerful messages, get creative and have fun. 0:00 /0:05 1× 0:00 /0:04 1× 0:00 /0:05 1× 2nd tool: P5 studio p5studio 3rd tool: Everywhere tool everywhere.toolsCollection of open-source tools for designers

In week 4 we looked into a variety of different websites; this was useful as i'd never heard or seen any of these websites before therefore looking at what they can do and experimenting with them helped me find new ways to work. I had fun looking at them all and finding new things I enjoy making such as the dance book cover, I made using P5 Studios website and the moving text ones on the Munken website.

Tuesday (Processing workshop/coding)

I found this coding difficult to understand and follow at first as it was something completely new to me however after this workshop, I can see how it makes things easier within design, I just feel like I need to spend more time on it to get a better understanding on how it works.

Week 5 - Production

Monday (4x6)

Four by six
Chosen brief: “Take your type specimen or poster from the last module. move it to screen and investigate how the type’s characters changes or expands in a digital environment. What does screen technology (motion, variable axes, interaction, responsiveness) reveal about the typeface that paper couldn’t.” This is the front cover

During week 5 we were given many briefs and outcomes to choose from I went with my type specimen cover from the 5.1 module and the animation outcome. I liked this task as it allowed me to think of taking my work even further and developing it in ways that I never would have thought of. On the link above I talk about where I would like to take my work and how I would develop it and where bouts it would be used if it was edited.

Jon's Workshops

Workshops
1st (Wacom pads/photoshop animation) Looking at using the Wacom pads to create a drawn animation on photoshop. the first video is just me messing around and getting and understanding of how it works. then the second video is of a bunny hopping which I then looped. The next set

During the 6 weeks we have worked with Jon doing workshops using different software's such as Photoshop, After Affects, 4D cinema and illustrator. I have learnt many things throughout these, and I feel they will help me in the future along with spending more of m free time developing more skills on these software's.

As much as I don't like using After Affects, I feel I have gained more confidence when using it and just keeping up using it so I don't forget the skills would really benefit me more.

I would like to look at doing more animation and moving image as it's something I wasn't familiar with before starting this module and I feel like would help me become a better graphic designer.

Relevant Work

Extra Experiments
Below is work I have done outside of lessons, I am starting ti think about what work I enjoy doing and where I would want to take it in the future. 1st - edited photograph Below I have looked at distorting an image I took out of my window for
My own research
Ruby Brown She is a Graphic Designer and first-class honours graduate from Leeds Arts University. She specialises in visual identity and 3D designing she was recently selected as one of It’s Nice That’s One’s To Watch 2025. I have previously looked into her work in the media

Over the course of this module I think I have gained a better understanding of what skills I enjoy and are good and what I'm not so good at. I feel that I am not the most confident with After Affects and moving image therefore I think I would start away from this however I do think it is a good skill to know so I would like to keep the basic skills so I have a base understanding of how it all works. After this module I think I would like to look further into music specifically looking at raves and festivals. In my personal life this is something I really enjoy attending and after looking at Ruby Brown in the media diet task then also thinking about creating my own work in the extra experiments and research in the links above, therefore in future modules I think that is the route I would want to go down. Maybe looking more into what's already been done to get ideas and inspiration to start thinking about what other skills I need to learn.
