When looking into my workflow the main pieces I found I could improve on were;
- Motivation
- Management
- Techniques
When it comes to motivation, I'll often find myself putting select pieces off and then whenever I get a random burst of energy doing them, even if its at god knows when in the morning / night. To combat this I've ended up having to do little bits often, making sure I give myself regular breaks while still doing specific time slots of work.
For management, I always end up doing large chunks of one project and then panicking after finding out how little I've done of the other. To organise this I've decided to start switching which project I work on when I start to get demotivated with the one I'm on, or just finding a good balance with the work shifts I give my self. Making sure to keep swapping which project I'm working with.
While actually working I often find myself wondering where to start or getting stuck part way through. To help with this for my last project I ended up creating a full document plan containing lots of references, resources and the main idea for what I wanted to pull off. This allowed me to have a area to store my thoughts and ideas that I could flick through and pull from when needed, as well as on the day of making and printing having a full guide with drawn out mock ups and references, keeping me from getting stuck and / or lost part way through. Having this set out guide did make the idea of experimentation a bit more daunting, however being able to have a main path that I could branch off from at specific points of the designated design process eventually slotted nicely into my head.
