In this task, you will reflect on a project you’ve previously completed and explore how one or more of the technologies introduced in the “Innovations” seminar could have been applied. The aim is to use this reflection as a way to think about how you might approach future projects differently, incorporating emerging tools and methods into your design practice.

Integration of AI tools in my 5.1 typographic project.
Upon reflection, I would've liked to integrate AI tools to improve my time management, planning, and design processes for 5.1 typography. I believe this would have improved the efficiency and depth of my overall submission. Creative experimentation was a key missing component of my project, and with better time management, I would have been able to explore more creative/experimental avenues.
My approach for the project was to identify keywords and, through type, amplify the extract's themes. For example, I would take a section of the extract and dissect specific words and phrases that I believe communicated 'atmosphere'. Although successful, this process was time-consuming and resulted in me re-reading and analysing the extract more times than necessary. OpenAI's GPT Models can process the text, extract themes, and identify atmospheric keywords/ tones like "light," "silence," or "materiality." This would result in a more efficient workflow for each page of my project.
To enhance the experimental aspect of my typography project, I could have integrated Spatial Interaction through the use of AR. My typography could "escape" the physical booklet, appearing in 3D space when viewed through a phone or AR device. This could highlight key ideas in a way that breaks traditional 2D constraints, aligning with a more boundary-pushing approach.
This reflection may influence my future projects because both technology uses will enhance my creativity and experimentation. AR encourages you to think beyond the traditional. Changing flat tactile designs into fully immersive experiences when in response to my specific typographic brief can be an interesting way of communicating the atmosphere. Whereas AI can streamline my design process by generating quicker design iterations. This allows more time to refine and push boundaries in creative directions.
By embracing AI and AR, I give myself the ability to redefine my projects, blending traditional Graphic Design with innovative technologies to create groundbreaking and emotionally resonant designs. This forward-thinking mindset not only enhances my creative output but also positions me as a more versatile designer.
