5.2.2 - Media Diet
Media Diet 1 - Character illustration by Phoebe Robinson.

Character illustration animation by Phoebe Robinson.
Who made it?
Phoebe Robinson is an artist from Birmingham that is inspired by music and fashion. Phoebes art includes fun characters and elements of nature. She using a mixture of digital and traditional tools and materials within her work. Phoebe specialises as an illustrator, animator, and mural artist and she is very talented and creative.
How did they make it?
Phoebe uses a mixture of photography, either her own or credited work of others, as well as procreate to illustrate on top of the photography. She illustrate characters, shapes, lines and doodles through procreate. I believe she may use software like photoshop to put the design over the image however she may only use procreate, I could not find a complete answer.
What are the entry points?
If I were to create work like this I work use procreate like Phoebe as this style is very doodle like and hand draw. This style also allows for a lot of creative freedom as you can build onto an image and design around the theme of it or even design around a colour scheme.
What did you find along the way?
Along the way I found that Phoebe is on a website called Skillshare and I believe this website allows for creatives to share there skills and work through teaching programs. This could be very helpful as it has 9 sections in one class and this could be amazing for beginners that are starting to use procreate or being an illustrator/animator.

Media Diet 2 - GAMBERGE™ by Geoffrey Bautista
GAMBERGE™ by Geoffrey Bautista
Who made it?
Geoffrey Bautista is a 22 year old art direction and graphic design student based in France and through my own analysis I believe he works on visual identity, digital design, print design, editorial design, art direction and creative strategy. He has a website portfolio that show cases his many projects and his website is also interact which is an insight to what types of skills he holds.
How did they make it?
I was not able to find the exact tools/software or techniques used however Geoffrey described it as 'Experiments on how type and basic shapes interact through movement, testing different ways they can connect, merge and transform in motion'. This is what drew me in as his work is not something you see all the time from artists and it a unique piece that defiantly has a software that I have never used. I believe that this could be a type of coding software that was used to create this but I am unsure.
What are the entry points?
If I were to create work like this I would need to do a deep dive on what type of software that Geoffrey used however if I were not able to find this information i would start by researching similar websites or software that could produced work like this.
What did you find along the way?
Along the way I was able to find his work on a his portfolio website that led me to find a lot more of his work that was not on his Instagram page. In a way Geoffrey has become an inspiration to me and his work has shown me that using different tools can help you produce very unique work.

Media Diet 3 - ‘New Page Design’! by Counter-Print.
‘New Page Design’! by Counter-Print.
Who made it?
This was made by a print studio called Counter-Print and it was founded by Céline Leterme and Jon Dowling. They specialise in producing and distributing high quality design books, journals and magazines. They are a great source for designers that want to stay up-to-date on the latest design trends. They operate as an online store where you can purchase everything they have to offer.
How did they make it?
I believe this was made by designing the book in a design software (something possibly similar to InDesign) and doing test print to ensure the designs are perfect to then be printed in their studio using high quality printers. There are no exact resources used this is only what I believe to happen.
What are the entry points?
If I were to create work like I work create my design to then layout it out correctly to be printed and then send it to print. For this type of outcome you need to have knowledge on how to perform the things needs for example you would need to know what printing pairs are to be able to print the book correctly as well as knowing other key details.
What did you find along the way?
Along the way i was able to find their website were the showcase everything they produce as well as everything they sell to people. You are able to buy all sorts of book that came in all different sizes. This is a good find as they sell many books that link to graphic design and it share key things you would need to know within the industry.
