Three peaks Prints

This project took place last summer, it was a collection of three designs featuring the highest peak in each mainland UK country. The prints were put up for sale on my website. They were designed in Illustrator.

A new technology

A new technology i would encorporate into these prints would be encorporating data systems and visualisation within these prints. Currently they are very similar to an already flooded market of hiking prints and need a new element added to stand out. Humans like information and it would be cool to illustrate these peaks differently rather than just a stylised image. This could include but not be exclusive to, height marking, percentage of population completed, difficulty or variation of routes. This would create a more informational and interesting piece while also separating it from an existing market.

The outcome could change in many ways, maybe featuring a plan view rather than frontal, or typography in different locations on the page, it would require a full redesign. Ive began to take an interest in data visualisation and information systems and i believe this could be a fun opportunity to experiment with that. Future projects would benefit from this experimentation and draw influence, especially if i were to add more peaks/trails to create a series. To learn this, i need to improve my illustrator skills and study existing maps created for things like these, it would also be valuable cross reference different map softwares to find a good mixture.
