3D - experimentation
Within the 2 Wednesday sessions with John, i gathered a collection of screenshots during the process of beggining to learn cinema 4d. 3D tools and design has always interested me, but also confused me. I used to watch 3d cartoons when i was younger and was very interested in the craftsmanship that went into animating them, and whilst i still do watch 3d, i have begun to undertand more in time as to what makes these aniamtions work. I used to think it worked on a frame by frame basis, similar to 2d, but I don't think that's the case as much now. During the second Wednesday session, we actually animated some text being destroyed and recreated - this involved setting parameters and sequences that the computer rendered out, rather than individually moving elements. It's a manner of getting from point a to b, in a frame of time, rather than creating each individual step in the motion. Learning about 3d lighting and texturing was also really interesting, as each element we were introduced to are valuable and very relevant elements in creating anything within a 3d environment.

Conclusion
I really liked these pair of workshops - thanks John! Whilst I don't think I'll have chance to use any more 3d before the end of 5.2, It's defiantly something id like to do more with in the future. Perhaps a solo project or for something in semester 2.
