clo 3D
Another technology I was introduced to during this module was Col 3D. I stumbled across this software by accident when I attended a talk with my German friend looking to do a masters in fashion design at Leeds Arts University. the talk ended up being just me and my friend so we got an in depth walk through of the software and what its used for.
it's basically a 3D modelling software used to design clothes which I found out was pretty much the industry standard to be a fashion designer was being able to operate this software. Unfortunately the software is to expensive to justify purchasing at the moment because u did really want to mess around with it and learn in. however what was interesting about the software was how technology has improved with In it so it now has a completely different use as well. However it is for sure a space I will be keeping tabs on.
during the talk the lecturer ran through what free lance work she does with the soft wear. She was talking about the fact that companies will pay her to create hyper realistic models wearing the clothes. Basically she was saying how most high street brands such as Nike a lot of the time don't use real models. something which being a model myself wasn't good to hear. However although I don't agree with this after doing my own research I found out that Louis Vuitton has done this alot with there bags. a lot of the time the bags on the website don't actually exist. instead of photographing the items there just digitally created 3D models using Cloud 3D. this is an industry that I had no idea about before starting the module which is for sure something I am Interested in researching further.
