Last year one of the briefs was to brand or rebrand a service/product in our given areas, we had to create brand guidelines and mockups for our brand. I was quite pleased with the animation I made, and the different ways I tried to 'advertise' my brand. If I got the chance to incorporate any new technologies it would definitely be AR (augmented reality). I came across this YouTube video when looking at how AR can be used to animate art works.
If I knew how to I would've definitely liked to create something like this for the posters I created. I think it'd be a good way to show them off and bring the images to life. After scanning the posters the little characters could've been 3D and animated and it would add some personality to the project. Even the posters with patterns could be animated, sort of like the ones in the video. Since the project was for a community centre, I think this would've been a good interactive element to appeal to the community.
The patterns I created were inspired by shapes and details from the building itself. Maybe I could've had a QR code to scan, which would take you to your camera. Then, when you point it at the building, you could see the colourful shapes and characters from the places the shapes came from. Or it could've just shown you a mural, or some other artwork on the building.
This seminar made me realise whilst I have heard of some of these new technologies I haven't explored them, and maybe the lack of knowledge and confidence stopped me from that. However, after being taught how to do some basic things in new software I will try to improve my skills, and try to incorporate new techniques into my future projects.
