5.2 process document

overall I think this has been one of most enjoyable modules yet. I really liked the idea of being able to chose the direction of the module yourself. I think k this module has helped me further realise my own interests with in the course. this is something I really look forward to doing a lot more of for future modules.

something I have really liked working on were johns work shops on after effects. I was really intrigued during the lectures from graham talking about projection work . this Is definitely an aspect I would like to explore more. something I found really useful about this module was the introduction to so many industries I didn't know existed before. for example the uses of these skills for promotional uses.

during the module we got to experiment with different techniques whether it be methods of design, such as coding or just useful skills during grahams workshops. one aspect that really resonated with me was grahams implication of coding. this is something I enjoyed and had never really thought about during the course. this was especially intriguing for me as my dad is a soft wear engineer. so it was really interesting to speak to him and his relation with designers. I have being able to talk to him about his relationship with web designers that he has worked with a lot. and something I was able to gather was the importance of being able to understand the world of coding. I liked what graham said during the lectures about the importance of being just able to understand abit of the language. after talking to my dad I have realised the importance of this. he talked about the fact you can tell when someone does or doesn't know anything about code, something that makes my dad job easier and therefore more employable in the industry. one off my aims following this module is to get more into coding. although I don't see myself becoming an expert I feel like its an Important area as a designer to learn to help stand out. this is something I really want to add to my skill set and portfolio in the future.

another area of the module I found really useful was realising how much I engage with technologies and learn about technology's subconsciously just through my own consumption of media. I found that I often am doing research and not even knowing that I am whether that be from social media or through going down rabbit holes of design I find useful. I found this out during my one on 0ne chat with graham. this was something I found was a huge eye opener for me and for sure was one of the most important things I realised during this module. I feel like my interests naturally link to graphic design whether that be fashion, music or skateboarding or just looking at art. I realised I need to document my finds alot better because a lot of the media I consume regarding these sub cultures gets lost as I don't pro actively view it as research. this is something that is going to be an aim of mine following this module. to make a pro active effort to document more of my findings. I think this will be something really useful as it will allow me to further develop my own unique visual identity as a designer that has being linked to my own interests. this is something I touch a lot more on in my previous posts on the website.

group work

Experimentation

these are some experiments I have done while working on the module. I really like the idea of mixing visual art with audio. for example these piece of work I used signal V3 to create this effect the idea was that ' the hellp ' a band that make really interesting distorted electronic music. I wanted to mix visual distortion to audio. this is something I tried to bring into a software called touch designer. unfortunately I wasn't able to spend enough time on the software to get good enough to produce an actual piece of work however it is defiantly an aspect I am looking to increase my skill set in following this module.

Future Aim

for the my future I really ant to get into art direction and creating my own strong visual identity as a designer as I am still unsure were I am going to take my career yet and as someone who likes to be involved in abit of everything. I think its really important to create a visual identity that can span across multiple aspects of design whether the be to do with fashion, music, art, graphic design etc.I find this idea really fascinating, the ides to almost create my own brand just from a clear visual aesthetic that spans across multiple niches. someone who has being able to do this really well is an Artist called lauzza, a music video producer working with the UK rap and alternative and without ever showing his face. each of his videos are very distinctively him using all the same aesthetics such as early 200os media and visual identity to create a nostalgic feel something that if your from my generation really resinates but also mixing futuristic ideas as well to keep his work fresh. you can see this visual identity through out all is creative outputs spanning from his videos, social media and website.

another aim of mine following the events of this module is documentation. this is something I have always struggled with. even during this module there's a lot of research I didn't end up documenting. so this is an aspect that I especially want to improve on. this is another way I think I am going to be able to further expand my visual identity. I am going to do this by using the ghost website to post my finds. However I also really want to create my own website and use it as almost a newsletter for myself to look back on and publish my finds.

another aspect I am going to aim to explore in the future is coding. something I am going to work with my dad over the Christmas break to further improve my skill set in this area.
