5.2 Process Document

Understanding the Technological Landscape

Most of my design work is done using technology. I think that tools we have access to right now are all really helpful and allow me to execute my work in the way that I want, however I do think that the new technology that is emerging could also be really useful to us in the future. 

I think I do struggle with relying on certain things that I am used to using, such as Photoshop and Illustrator, and I do not experiment and use new tools as much as I would like to, because I know what I am comfortable with and what I am used to, and I find it quite worrying trying to use new tools.

I think that we have access to pretty much everything using the Adobe Creative Suite, they have lots of different applications that can all be used for a wide range of things, so it is very useful to have access to that

Experimentation and Process

In this module I have explored a lot of different websites and technologies (See images below)

I definitely enjoyed some of these a lot more than the others, for example I really enjoyed experimenting with the pixel art, that is something that I have always enjoyed, and I also really liked playing around with the p5studio website, I thought that that one was really interesting and I really liked the way that my experiment turned out. but I did not enjoy the text-based websites so much, such as ‘Yellow Afterlife’, I just didn’t really see the point in this at all.

I didn’t really enjoy looking into coding too much, that has always something I’ve struggled doing and I just do not find it enjoyable at all.

Through these experiments I realised that I should definitely try to do things like things like this more often, and I shouldn’t be scared of experimenting even if it goes wrong or I don’t like how it has turned out, because that is the whole point of experimenting.

Engaging with Emerging Technologies

I have not used AI in any of my work previously as, to me, I feel like I wouldn’t be doing the work myself and I would just be getting a computer to do it for me, however this is something that I could change and look into doing.

Intentions and Future Directions

I would definitely want to find more websites to create things similar to what I created on p5studio as I really liked the outcome that I got from that. I would also like to do more things like the pixel art as I really enjoy doing digital drawings and things like that

Reflection and Summary

I have learned that I definitely need to experiment more with my work and not be scared to try out new things. This is something that I will do more of in the work that I do in the future.
