5.2.5 Brutalist Websites

  1. The first website that caught my attention was https://www.maiblanco.com/category/paintings/. My first impression of this website was that it was very chaotic and I didn't quite understand what I looking at. I think that the design of the website works well as she uses a snippet of her artwork as the main page which draws people in who want to see what her art is really like. As you get into the website and start visiting links to her artwork you will notice that the main page background keeps changing colours. I liked this because it links well with her artistic theme and made me think of a colour palette.
  2. The second website I found fascinating was https://katrinemehl.com/. My first impressions were that it looked quite minimalist. However, when I kept on scrolling down there was a sheet of paper in the background that got more scrunched up the further down the website you went. I loved this feature and though that it added so much to the website. The emphasis on the material (paper) being scrunched up to add different textures is what I think makes this webiste link well with brutalism.
  3. The last website that I found interesting was https://chkchkchk.net/tickets/. This website didn't really contain much information but was so interactive and fun to mess around with. The theme is music and by dragging your mouse around the page you created many different versions of !!!. I found this really fun and it reminded me just how boring normal website designs can be. I think that if we added interactive features to ordinary websites more people would be attracted to go on them. The only downfall to this site would be that it really doesn't contain much .However, with some more links and information about the music this would really thrive.
