For the 6X6 briefs, I have chosen to focus on number 4. I am taking a practical, every day object and shifting its appearance. I started off by sketching out an idea on Procreate before bringing it to life in Cinema 4D, this made the process a little bit easier as I already had a vision in my head of the outcome.
I was worried about attempting this on Cinema 4D as we had only had around 6 hours of training on it so far but with the help of tutorials and online resources, I managed to get a positive result. This process was super challenging and took me two days to complete, including a 3 hour long rendering process. I chose Cinema 4D because I was really inspired after our previous workshops and knew it was definitely something I wanted to do. To me, this technology is very advanced and full of endless opportunities. I found it truly amazing how realistic my outcome looked, it was worth the 3 hour wait!
Cinema 4D, fully rendered outcome for the 2 week project.
This is my final outcome for the 2 week project we had been given. I believe that this fits brief 4 well. I have shown an every day object being transformed into something with meaning which allows people to have an entirely new perspective on just how much texture, pattern and beauty goes into these practical objects. Pillows and cushions often get overlooked as something that is just there on either the sofa, chair or bed when they actually have such an impact on our comfort.
My aim was to have 4 different patterned cushions with distinct colours and textures to represent multiple perspectives and emotions. I added a collision to symbolise the beauty or challenges of these differences interacting with one another.
