Over the duration of this module, I attended sessions with Jon that exposed us to a new software, Cinema 4D. The outcome of these sessions was to create a blood cell animation.
In the first session, we were shown the main tools within the software that allowed us to operate it. As I didn't know the layout of this software and it wasn't similar to Adobe software, I found it stressful and therefore, it was difficult to adjust and learn where new tools were located. The step by step walkthrough and any needed guidance throughout was essential for me as it allowed me to stay on track and fully understand what I was working with. Attending more sessions meant I gained more confidence within the software. I found it fascinating how simple shapes like spheres can be edited using tools like extrude to make them look like similar objects. In later sessions we added textures, colliders and lighting to the white blood cells, this made them appear more realistic. This was something I enjoyed as I could visually see my progress.
Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed this short introduction to Cinema 4D. Although a stressful and daunting software, it is something that I would like to explore further to push my design abilities. Going into the workshop I thought these sessions would be something I wouldn't enjoy and pursue further but to my surprise, the process felt rewarding getting to see something come to life.
